The house, which was previously listed by Airbnb for Barbie's 60th anniversary in 2019, has had a recent update to give it more "Kenergy" and mark Barbie making her live-action debut in the Barbie film starring Margot Robbie. The project is the brainchild of Bucket Listers Head of Experiences, Derek Berry, who also created nostalgic pop-up phenomena inspired by Saved by the Max, The Golden Girls Kitchen, and The Peach Pit. If you're a Barbie girl who's always dreamed of living in a Barbie world, now's your big moment. In April, it partnered with the Louvre Museum in Paris on a contest celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Pyramid to offer one lucky winner and a guest the chance to spend a night at the famed spot. Fans hoping to live in Barbie's world better set a reminder before packing their pink suitcase, though.

Other details that nod to Ken's takeover include a Western-style swing door, decorated with an image of a horse and the words "Kendom Saloon", and a crossed-out "Barbie" sign above the outdoor kitchen that now reads "Ken". Some of Barbie's clothing, including the iconic high-heeled pink shoe with a fluffy feather decoration from the movie, also hang in the closet. All ages are welcome to experience The Malibu Barbie Café, which is available for booking through October 15.

Airbnb is also making a one-time donation to Save the Children, a non-profit organization, “to build girls’ confidence and help them excel in school,” according to Airbnb. Fans of the highly anticipated Barbie film, which hits theaters on July 21, now have the chance to stay in a private Malibu mansion completely decked out in the doll's signature hot pink thanks to Airbnb. There are two one-night stays available for up to two guests each on July 21 and July 22, so a total of four guests can stay at the house. While Barbie may have never listed her home before, Airbnb is no stranger to extravagant stays and adventures. In September, the company announced that it was partnering with the Ocean Conservancy for an all-expenses-paid trip to Antarctica this December. Five lucky travelers will get the chance to work with researchers studying climate change on the freezing continent.

The overnight stays are timed to the July 21 release of the “Barbie” movie, which stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. Airbnb will celebrate the film with a donation to Save the Children to support equal access to learning resources for children, families and communities in over 100 countries. The funds will help “to build girls’ confidence and help them excel in school – ensuring everyone has equal opportunity to achieve success,” per a release. The real-life Barbie DreamHouse is reopening its doors in Malibu soon — but this time, the three-story Airbnb promises big Kenergy.

However, the lucky vacationers won't be totally alone with their friends during their stay. The stays are free of charge, although Airbnb notes that guests will need to arrange their own transportation to and from Malibu. The Malibu DreamHouse will be available to book for two separate, overnight stays for up to two people on July 21 and July 22, 2023. The seaside property with panoramic views first went up for rent in 2019, and Ken has redecorated the bright pink pad ahead of Greta Gerwig’s highly-anticipated Barbie film. Each reservation includes your choice of entree and side item, full access to the Barbie Cafe experience and a 90-minute table reservation. Early bird pricing ranges from $22-$30 for kids and $39-$49 for adults depending on the date and time. Boasting fun photo opps, a menu from a Master Chef finalist, California vibes and, of course, actual Barbie dolls, this cafe feels like a spot Barbie herself would hang out with Ken, Midge and Skipper.

The Dreamhouse also has a bright-pink outdoor lounging area, an outdoor gym – complete with a barrel filled with "beefy body brine" – a pink outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and an infinity pool. The home previously was listed on Airbnb in October 2019 for $60 a night for Barbie’s 60th anniversary. The recent relisting adds to an already extensive marketing campaign for Barbie, director Greta Gerwig’s live-action film, which will premiere in theaters next month with a $100 million budget.
The stays are free of charge, according to Airbnb, but guests are responsible for their own travel to and from Malibu. The oceanfront mansion, located in Malibu, California, features panoramic views and "serves as the perfect backdrop for Ken’s picture-plastic paradise," according to a statement from Airbnb. Some of Barbie's "most accomplished and entrepreneurial pals" will be joining guests during their trip, according to the release. Fencing champion Ibtihaj Muhammad — who has a Barbie doll modeled after her as part of the brand's "Sheroes" collection — will give one-on-one fencing lesson. It can accommodate one guest and up to three friends for a one-time reservation from October 27 to October 29.
There’s also an outdoor disco area, perfect for a choreographed dance party with a bespoke song. But now, the oceanfront home has been renovated to fully embrace all things pink and Barbie. Imagine kicking up your feet in the DreamHouse’s couch when you light up Homesick’s official candle, which boasts base notes of sandalwood and plush velvet, mid notes of lemon zest and pink jasmine and top notes of sweet peony and rose bush. "All stays will be free of charge – because Ken couldn't figure out how to put a price on Barbie's Malibu DreamHouse – after all, Ken's thing is beach, not math!" Airbnb said.
Up to four guests will have the opportunity to stay in the newly revamped Dreamhouse where Ken will offer up his room up for availability. The company posted a pink-filled video featuring Muhammad on its YouTube channel to promote the experience, which seems to be aimed at children. Pilot and aerospace engineer Jill Meyers will also spend time with guests, giving them a behind-the-scenes tour of Columbia Memorial Space Center. Celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin will makeover the visitors, while chef Gina Clarke-Helm will treat them to a cooking lesson in Barbie's kitchen. The film was recently in the news as it made "the world run out of pink", while a recent book explored Barbie's Dreamhouse through the ages. Guests can enjoy nearby activities such as shopping, surfing and roller blading on the boardwalk, and will also get to take home their own set of yellow-and-pink Impala skates and surfboard. Airbnb announced it is giving away a pair of one-night stays next month at the Dream House, which is privately owned and operated and not normally used for Airbnb rentals, the company said.
